Join the Big Waves bike team in supporting Children’s Hospital! The team rides in honor of Asa Bigelow and Lyla Schaefer.
Asa spent 76 days at Children’s Hospital Colorado during the summer of 2018. He has gone through over 20 surgeries to repair gun shot wounds. The support from Children’s to the Bigelow family continues today. Asa still visits his nurses, OTs, PTs, and doctors on 6 East.
Lyla had to have open heart surgery at the age of 2. The Schaefer family had minimal time to digest the news prior to Lyla going in for surgery. She spent many days recovering and still goes back for check ups. Lyla has grown and is now swimming, running, playing, and learning.
Courage Classic is virtual for 2020.
While we had sincerely hoped to pedal, cheer, and drink dill pickle juice in person, we know that the Courage Classic community will come together in spirit - and online! - to make this tour an incredible success to benefit the patients Children’s Colorado serves. You committed to this tour because you are committed to Children’s Colorado’s mission, our kids, our caregivers, and the greater good. After all, there’s a lot riding on us!
Our patients, families, and caregivers need us now more than ever. Along with the incredible work Children's Colorado is doing related to COVID-19 - including research, caregiver relief efforts and telemedicine - we continue to provide world-class medical care for children whose injuries and illnesses cannot wait. Sick kids don’t get to take a break from medical treatments, even in a pandemic.
This year’s tour format will broaden the possibilities beyond what any of us ever dreamed. You can ride, spin, run, hike, walk, or even sleep in to support Children’s Colorado! We can’t wait to see what creative ideas you come up with to fundraise and build community during a time when we need both of these things more than ever.
